Outcomes & Next Steps
This website is an open access resource offering a range of tried-and-tested ideas shared by educators for teaching CJ in the classroom. We hope it will be shared widely, and we encourage people to share ideas, or comment on ways they have used and developed the activities.
We are developing a practical workshop for teachers, students and young adults designed to prompt climate justice conversations through hands-on experiences of a couple of the activities on the website. We hope to run this in person at the British Academy Ideas Festival, and as a webinar for the Irish Sustainable Schools Network.
A framework showing pathways to climate justice from the classroom for primary and post-primary is an integral part of our first academic publication from the project. We will share this publication below once it is published.
We have presented on the research at conferences of the British Educational Research Association, the International Sociological Association and the Universities’ Council for the Education of Teachers. These have been opportunities to share and refine our ideas with relevant academic communities.
Engagement with teachers throughout the Classrooms for Climate Justice research project played a pivotal role in shaping its outcomes and laying the foundation for a Research Ireland–funded project called ‘Le chéile atáimid’ (In it Together). The overarching aim of this project is to work with Irish Education and Training Boards (ETBs) to build a community of teachers committed to transformative climate justice education.
